I currently intend to build an HTPC that needs to be able to do the following:
    - be used as a PC (TV as monitor)
    - be used as a radio/CD player (w/o having to turn on the TV to start it)
    - Connected to a surround sound set (usable w/o turning on the HTPC, just watching TV but also usable with the media center)
    - be used as a HD recorder
    - be used as a DVD player
    - burn DVD's (maybe upgrade later on to blue-ray not needed atm)
    - Needs to have the CPU/GPU power to play 1080P fluently
    - low noise

Currently I'm leaning to something like this:
case: Antec MicroFusion 350Watt with Remote
    Motherboard: MSI 785GM-E51
    Mem: OCZ OCZ3G10664GK (4GB)
    CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 240E (2.8GhZ 45W)
    HD: Samsung Spinpoint F1 DT HD642JJ, 640GB
    DVD burner: Samsung SH-S223C
    5.1 sound: Logitech Z-5500 Digital
    TV card: Hauppauge WinTV HVR-4000

The biggest concerns for me are how do I get the PC speaker set to be used A when just watching TV but also usable with the media center,
is there something like an intelligent switch I could in between that when just watching TV it gets its audio from the TV, but while using
the media center it gets its sound from the media center.

Then the second concern I have is the TV card The incoming TV signal is DVB-T I can connect two devices to the reciever of the signal so that
should be relatively straight forward. TV on 1 when just watching TV, and HTPC on 2 when you want to record or watch TV true the media center.
my concern is however what is the quality of today's TV cards I used to have one ages ago and the image quality seemed to be a lot worse then it
was when watching regular TV secondly recording made Insanely large files wich I believe to be a codec issue, are there any good codec for this?

Then lastly will the TV card allow the HTPC to be used as just a radio (using the remote) w/o having to turn on the TV and opening programs etc?

so rate the above build and any comments on the function/usage are welcome :)

The speakers you are looking at have multiple inputs.

Can't comment on TV cards are they don't work in Canada except for analog.

The rest of the build looks fine.
