airport hanger > that
"Look at me, instead of having talent I'm using old/weird gear"
damn that dude is a fucking genius. i don't care what you say, you have to respect a man like that.
... He made a big box and takes shitty photos...
i'd like to see you make any box that takes any pictures. and then i'd like to see you develop your own color process. honestly the pictures aren't cutting edge 5dmkII images but you have to respect what he is doing because frankly he is probably the only person in the WORLD that is doing that process and he is doing it all by hand, no light meters, no nothing. you can criticize his work all you want but the bottom line is he is dedicated to his work and is making really interesting prints.
sure, its great motivation - but Id hardly call him a genius. its not like he is reinventing photography.
going back to the roots of photography and staying away from shitty fad digital cameras that only last a few years would be more appropriate.
Thats pretty cool. His process and his images are perfectly in tune with what he wants to get out of the series. More than anything else, I think any photographer would understand and respect the idea of going through whatever lengths necessary to create the images that are in your head and manage to create a cohesive, competent body of work from that process.
He's doing it. Anyone here that can say the same?
i think thats pretty cool
this is truly what it boils down to. it may not be anything spectacular to the world but if it is what he wants, he's succeeded.
Anybody else notice he kinda looks like Will Farrell with long hair...
So, if i built a bridge that was 6 iles long to cross a 1 mile river, and the bridge gave everyone flat tires, it would be a work of art, just because it was the only one ever made?
Just because this guy did it himself does not allow him any less scrutiny than others. If the pictures suck, they suck, if he did all of the shit "by hand" and he sucks at it, maybe he should think about buying a fucking light meter or a stop watch and using some sort of technical expertise and a semi methodical approach to what he does.
and by the way, it is kinda cool, but kinda lame too.
