and it only took me 49 sets!
did you do 2 pullups your first set or last
my buddys weightlifting class teacher had the class bench press 40 lbs for 2 min and see how many they could do
the teacher got 136 my friend got 152
So they didn't even use an olympic bar?
nope he had them use the EZ-curl bars
i thought this was a bit retarded
he also has them switch routines every two weeks
first few sets.
i was exaggerating about 49 sets though it did take more than 25
my back is toasted though so that's good.
I don't get it. Surely you can do 5 sets of 10?
You can't call yourself strong if you can't even do that.
can you do 5 sets of 10 pulldowns with 220lbs?
i never called myself strong.
Here's what I do, I'm supposed to do 50 chin ups on mondays and thursdays, but I use the assisted chinup/dip machine, and I start with half my weight. Each week I decrease the weight, so eventually I'll be able to do them unassisted. I do 5 sets of 10 by the way.
I could when I was in high school.
I haven't used a machine since then so I wouldn't know, but possibly. Then again I think pull down machines may exaggerate the amount of weight.
Chin ups or pull ups? Big difference.
That's cool, they are important as well... I had my jaw wired shut and other shit preventing me from eating for about 2 months between about new years even and march 5th-ish. I lost 25 lbs. Before I could do 20 wide grip pull ups easy without swinging, and going slowly so to not "cheat" by using momentum"
Now it's been a month of working out and eating, I've already gained 15 lbs back (bf% went up a couple percent from really low to my normally low % of around 10) but the thing that seems to have grown the most is my lats. My back went from looking straight in that area to being very triangular (or the v-shape that wide lats give) in just the last 5 weeks or so. I think it's all because of wide-grip pull ups. Now I can only do 12-15 max, but I do 5 sets of 8-10 and like I said I'm seeing major improvements in strength and muscle gain in my lats. If you're trying to lose weight and gain muscle, doing wide grips may help a lot rather than doing less than your bodyweight on a pulldown machine.
I did 48 wide grip pullups on monday. It only took 4 sets
Darrem Charles was at the gym today doing pullups, he was doing sets of 8 reps with three 45 pound plates hanging from his waist.
OMG U R SOOOO MUCH MORE BADASS THAN US FATTIES!!!1!
most people at the gym cheat and don't go down all the way
i saw some guy kicking his way up there each rep, was pretty funny to watch
King, how long do you rest for between sets?
Even with just my bodyweight, I only do between 5-8 per set but rest between 30sec to 1min between sets. I did 5sets of 8 pretty easily yesterday with the towel grip and keeping legs in an L position.
i didnt want to be there all day so i was resting @ 30seconds or less.
i did a few sets at 3 reps then when i started getting only 2 reps, i went down to 1 rep with 15-30 seconds rest in between each "set".
i'm just happy i didn't "cheat" by doing negatives or using a bench to support my legs.
not that it's cheating, those are helpful tools. I just dont want to use those tools anymore.
Youre quite the tool arent you?
