WEB I have some videos i want to embed in my web page, hosted on my own server. pls help

    how do i embed a video in my web page and allow people to view it within the page, without downloading it? (like youtube)

    im hosting it on my server.

    i need a player? or some shit?

    flash video player.

    Alternatively, you can use the embed html code, but i don't really like using wm player or quicktime for embedding stuff.

    i dont want to check it one day to find it was removed or some shit.

    yea, this is why i wanted some recommendations.

    there's this huge ghastly fucking fish/logo thing in the bottom right corner taking up 1/3 of the screen in the unregistered version.

    theres got to be a good free one somethere

    I think you can accomplish this with simple htaccess files. If you only allow requests to come from your domain and block ^$ (or something like that) they will work in a web browser but can't be opened separately ..

    I did something similar but backwards, you have to right click, save as, you can't stream movies from my servers:

    RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} !^Mozilla*
    RewriteRule \.(mp3|mpg|mpeg|wma|wmv|avi)$ - [F,NC]


    Just a thought ...

    I use it for both my myspace page and playing mp3s, as well as my sites with a single embeded video. (nws cupvid.com, nws)
