And I fucking suck at running. Any hints? I have till the end of October.
damn son u always got some weird goal going on. Running is the only way to improve running!
Start running then.
8 minutes a mile shouldn't be that difficult.
Fucking fire academy. Shit sucks.
8:18 son, get it right!
Going to start running every other day till failure.
damn I hope they don't put me through that hell, is this for the agility test?
Yeah. You get three chances to pass it. Right now I am running a fricking 10 minute mile.
are u actually jogging the whole thing, or do you not have the endurance for that?
Endurance issues I guess. But I never train for it or run. Im going to hit it hard so I pass the first time.
Good luck. A fireman is the only full time gig I could have seen myself doing.
What happened to male stripper?
Thanks. I am going to have to train my ass off for this test.
That was my fault. I thought you could touch but apparently you arn't supposed to.
As for the running, c'mon man. I could easily do the first mile under 9 min in highschool and I was chubby and out of shape!
Start now! First you have to find out what your 2 mile time is I suppose, have you tried yet?
EDIT: I saw 10 min for the first (or each?) mile. Should be easy to get quicker.
Starting my training tommorow.
If 8:16 miles are your goal and you are having a tough time with that, the only thing you can do is just run more and more. Once you get some better endurance mix in some stairs at a local high school football field and some varied speed sprints and such
only takes a year, with the shape ur in they probably wouldn't have a problem hiring you
2 miles in 16 minutes... i hope you can get that, military is a lot toughrer thatn that
If you cant run 8 min miles that is pathetic, I hope you are in full firefighting gear that weighs a shitload then you might have an excuse.
heres what you do man, You do 400 yard sprint, then jog 400 yards then sprint 400 yards. I got my 5k time down from 25 to 21 doing this
Well if you need to run a timed 2 miles.....train by running 3. It gets your body ready in a hurry. 2 weeks out from your test, run a timed 2mi. Your pace will naturally be faster because your body KNOWS you are running a shorter distance than it is accustom to. Make sure no running 2-3 days before the test.
You can do it pretty easy I am sure. 20min down to 16 is cake. 16-14 a little tougher. 14-12 requires some work....and sub 10 min on 2 miles is pretty good.
As an example, at 18 in the service I had to run 2 mi in 15:54 just to PASS. My time at the beginning of basic was horrid, like 21:20 or something. 8 weeks later, 12:40 and at the end of MP school...I was running 11:30 - 11:50s.
If you want it bad enough....you'll do the work for it.
track in the texas heat sucks
Like everyone else says, you have to run to run. Start off slow, with moderate distances. Try to set a goal for yourself, 30 seconds shaved off each mile per week. You have 3 months to get there, I'm sure it won't be too hard.
Yea just start out running what you can. I ran/walked the distance I needed to go. I just kept cutting down the walk time. I have only been running a couple weeks and I can do 2 miles ok now.
fuck all this running noise. real men walk.
