I'm assuming the exercises I should focus on the most to do this are squats, legpresses, and calf raises, right?

Edit: One more question, if I rep 65lb DB's on flat bench, what kind of BB weight would that translate to?

explosiveness exercises. Your basic DL's, squats, cleans, etc.

db does not translate to bb

I dont really think you need to do olympic lifts to increase your verticle. Just focus of the basics. Calves aren't too important.

Squats, deadlifts, romanian deadlifts, good mornings, 45 degree back raises, all are good stuff

Isn't weight training one of the least effective ways of increasing your vert?

It depends on which strength quality is most lacking. Some people have good reactive ability but need more limit strength, and vice versa. He probably needs both :o
