but it just seems unlikely.
Same. Maybe Tubs wont be able to crucifix the giant.
I like Struve but why the ill-will towards Nelson?
He was a fuckwad on TUF
Yeah, coaching all those guys and running through his competition was a real embarrassment to the sport.
So he didn't want to do what Rashad was telling him to do. Big deal. He didn't need it to kick Rashad's boy's ass and win TUF.
Yeah he was a bit annoying on the show but he backed it all up in the end.
Struve doesn't have a chance against Nelson. Nelson is going to lay his fatass on top of Struve and pound out a decision.
nelson by marshmellow squish.
Struve has some good jits - he should use his reach advantage and keep it standing. Maybe some leg kicks to take away nelson's mobility. A thai clinch + some knees would be awesome.
looks like Nelson is sporting a full out fucking mullet
I like Nelson... for the simple fact that it must have really chapped Dana's arse when he won TUF.
Nelson is going to wreck him.
this is the correct response. You know WHite had to be pissed that out of all those guys he had to end up with the 1 guy he probably fucking hated lol
(yes i think nelson is an asshole, if he got in better shape and cut down to a lower weight class maybe he could have had a real career, but he's just a fat guy who is pretty decent and can take a punch.
it's if tank abbot could have learned a little BJJ)
Nelson is a great fighter, it's a shame because I really like Struve and want him to go deep in the division, but I can't see him beating Nelson. I like both fighters a lot, but I see Nelson via TKO.
tank was a big strong brawler. nelson is a highly skilled fighter who is a veteran and really understands what he's doing in the cage. he just happens to be a fat-ass. i don't think it's because he's lazy...lazy people don't get to be such a high level grappler as he is. i think it's kind of become his calling card and his meal-ticket*
Comparing him to Tank is a joke. And I kind of like his "I don't really take anything serious" attitude. But I think the extent he likes to show it off is a bit fake. To be as good as him you have to work your ass off in the gym.
i compare him to tank because they both had definate skill although different skill at different times of the MMA world
had fat tank (who was in decent shape, strong as a bull, just no cardio) had concentrated on some ground defense and cardio ( a little BJJ would have gone a long way in the early days of the UFC), not saying he needed to be a BJJ black belt, but just some take down and sub defense, he could have stayed in the ufc for awhile and stayed a contender and made some $$$$ instead he had a fuck it, i'm a tough guy attitude and didn't improve upon his brawling ability
Nelson has some good ground game (especially for a fat fuck) and can kinda throw hands, but he doesn't seem to want to improve his overall game, he seems to say fuck it, i'm a tough fat fucker and that's good enough.
because of that attitude he'll never be a top tier HW, he'll dis appear from the UFC and be in small show hell like Tank and it will happen because they seem to think they are tough enough at what they do to do the job and don't seem willing to learn something new.
If Nelson said to himself hey i can improve, let me go train at this other camp and force myself to grow as an athlete (and i don't mean waist line when i say grow ) he'd be able to do something impressive, he has skill, he just doesn't seem to have a humble enough attitude to admit he needs to improve and find a camp that could assist him.
Tank = fat brawler with a i'm the shit attitude
Nelson = fat guy with some GnP and ground ability with a i'm the shit attitude
"some ground game?"
i would say that nelson is one of the better HW grapplers in the UFC. he's got legit ground skills. more importantly, he's almost like randy in that he knows what he's good at, has a good game plan, and executes the plan. he's solid all around, but he dictates where the fight goes.
i wouldn't agree that he's a great grappler or BJJ guy.
even against guys with no ground game about all he can muster is decent ground control to land weak punches from the top.
he's no Mir, Fedor, Couture, even lesnar which i hate to admit, Etc. when it comes to ground game, he's no were near the top HW grapplers
I think what you meant to say is "Mir is no Nelson". Since Nelson beat Mir here:
Oh hey look, Nelson beat Mir in a grappling contest a decade ago.
Lesnar is no Mir.
:video of their UFC 84 match:
Holy shit, I didn't realize it was already 2013! I must have been asleep for the last 3 years!
But you know what? Any way you slice it, it's stupid to say "He's no Mir" when it comes to grappling, when he beat Mir in a grappling contest.
