BOOM! Head shot!
Hey where is that?
what kind of belt is that
I taught the Titusville Fighting Pistol class.
His form could use some tweaking but I like the shot.
Man I think i'll put down a deposit on a class.
what's wrong with his form? and what exactly is going on in that pic?
ive never been so close to a backstop or a target...
Probably needs to pull his arm/gun farther away from the target. Just my guess...
And he's shooting a taser!!!! That's what it looks like, at least...
Not necessarily further from his target but definitely closer to his own body. At that distance you have to stay tight and keep a consistent index.
Do you guys ever see some pictures of old shooting techniques and think "man what were they thinking" and then what stuff from today people will be looking at in 50 years and doing the same thing about? This just reminds me of my chick gaylord book full of men in their best 1950's clothes in the "machine gun turret/man pooping in the woods" position
In the last 5 - 10 years ECQC/retention shooting techniques have come a long way. Much of the most recent refinements can be directly attributed to work by SouthNarc. Today's 0 - 3 foot gun fight training at a good school is much more dynamic and combative which is so much more safe and realistic than the static "stand and deliver" junk.
Tactics and techniques evolve over time. I'm sure we'll look back 10, 25 and 50 years from now and question a lot of what we are teaching now but this is true in any field. I pity the instructors that are still married to everything that was being taught in the 80's and 90's.
I took Center Axis Relock training and it really makes people who stand 15 yards away from a paper target and do nothing all day but try to get a tight grouping look like a joke.
In what world is training like that even practical?
Damn I hate not having money...I'd love to take one of your classes My girls step dad and I are really wanting to, he's just waiting on me
Titusville? Nice and local... any info online about your classes? Content/Schedule/Prices/etc?
Going to Hawaii on business? Damn I'm goin into the wrong field
Shoulda gone during February though ha HI is still fuckin nice in September so that'll still be a nice little trip
where someone is shooting at me from a distance and i pull my gun and shoot them with my trained eye and fantastic aim.
i love shooting groups, being accurate at a distance is a skill as well.
But the guy shooting at you from a distance isn't going to stand still for you.
no shit !?! i was just pointing out that each are important skills and not to ignore 1
... and that's why I move around WHILE shooting at a target 10/15 yards away. It's not the best system, but it helps simulate a moving target: it's also gratifying to see all the shots hit the target reasonably accurately. I need more range time though. Winter sucks.
If you can't hit someone at those distances... there's NO help for you.
