damn my 19 1/2 year old self as soon as i get my permit when i'm 21, i'll get a 1911 though.
I don't know what the laws in North Carolina are, but here in Florida you only have to be 18 to buy a handgun from a private person. Check www.packing.org for the laws to see if it's legal for someone over 18 but under 21 to buy a handgun from a private party in NC, and if it is then find local gun classifieds or something.
There's a gun show here next weekend, hopefully there will be a lot of private vendors there, i'm hoping to pick up a P22.
i don't think that's legal anywhere, but i know for a fact you have to have a permit for private sales here.
Which part do you think is not legal anywhere?
i thought you had to have a permit anywhere, but again, i haven't checked so i dunno.
You cannot own a handgun if you are under 21. This is federal law.
There are of course ways to skirt that law in practical terms, by not being the registered owner of "your" gun.
Of course you can. Learn the law, then speak to it.
You cannot buy from an FFL unless you are 21. In many states, the states allow you to buy from a private party before you are 21.
It's perfectly legal in virtually every state that believes in the constitution (Florida, Vermont, etc.).
You cannot BUY a handgun from a federally licensed dealer if you're under 21, however you can OWN and POSSESS a handgun so long as you're over 18. State law in Florida and several other states allows you to purchase handguns from private party's as long as you're over 18, you just can't purchase from an FFL. Federal law does not regular private sales between two individuals, that is up to the state which is why it is legal in some places but not others. And in Florida, there is no registration.
well, i've read up on the NC law, and it says that nobody can own a pistol without a pistol permit, and in order to get a permit, you have to be 21, so that kinda implies that you can't own one at 18.
Damn, never realized NC was so strict.
in florida a parent can give you a hand gun as a gift. but you cant buy ammo for it. .
i buy 9mm ammo all the time at Walmart, i just say it's for a carbine, and they don't seem to give a shit. most of the time they don't even ask.
Sure you can. simply say "it's for a rifle"
I have a carbine that uses 9mm. I have pistols & rifles that use .22lr. That is why it's a pointless regulation.
unless you are under 18, of course.
You can buy rifle ammo, so if you have a pistol that shoots a rifle caliber, like a P22 with .22lr then you can buy ammo no problem, but you're SOL if you want .40, .45, .357, etc.
they make carbines in all those calibers. and if they don't, the ppl at wallyworld won't know that. most of the time, they'll just want to make you go away instead of calling a manager.
Really? Cause the cx4 storm carbine comes in .40 & .45. I'm certain it wouldn't be a hard sell to tell them you had one in .357, but you can definitely purchase .40 & .45
they actually make ARs in .357sig
In indiana you can get your ccw at 18 and with the ccw you can legally buy hand guns in IN
Okay, so I've been schooled
no glock no care
amen. sorry i just love glocks too much!
in Texas too, you cannot purchase/possess a handgun unles you are 21 or above. Just few more months...so what? I'm an alien lol too bad
