No AFSC yet
I'm going to write down UAV on my OTS app and see if it goes through.
Have to go through UPT first.
Starting with UPT classes 09-01 UAVs will be given as first assignments with a Flight follow on.
After a few trials with this, they will decide whether to dedicate a career field to UAVs or not.
pilots are droppoing UAV's out of pilot school. put 92T0
cool, you get to wear a flight suit and aircrew wings without having to actually fly. I briefly looked into that when submitting my reenlistment package in the Corps.
With the way things are now, I am sure you will get it. They are looking for a couple hundred to fill the slots.
what do you guys think on whether it should be an officer or enlisted career field?
if they gave me the option when i graduate UPT i'd volunteer for it if i could pick my follow on assignment
Fatboy, tunes, nice pits.
I agree with a posting in the AF Times, that they should bring back the Warrant Officer rank and give the enlisted the chance to fly them.
nsxrebel, thanks. He is over 7 years old now.
Warrant Officers are not enlisted, and dont you have to be a rated pilot to get UAV's?
becasue UAV are starting to carry munitions it needs to be an officer job for justification purposes, IMO
I remember you telling me that.
I think what he meant was by bringing back Warrant Officers to the AF, enlisted members have a chance of going WO, and then, being able to fly.
my puppah is about to turn 3... im going to take some more pics of him soon and av them
Fuck an air medal, UAV pilots can now earn the distinguished flying cross.
YUP! Exactly what I meant.
Thanks for clearing that up.
Hmm, this statement makes no sense. Are you saying that UAV pilots are the dropouts from real flight school?
Air Medals are over rated anyways.
Mainly because every time an AF plane gets within 5000K of a combat zone everyone on board gets awarded a air medal.
All you have to do is fly the specified number of flights and submit. I know, because I have 3 from 1 90-day plus deployment.
I was flying my ass off. It is going to help towards promotion, so I am not complaining.
no, they are the GRADUATES from UPT
they are starting by taking some out of the top, middle, and bottom of the classes to see who does best in the UAV. So guys will be going from the T-38 to a UAV, T-1 to UAV and T-44 to UAV...no one is safe!!
no problem. some people just lack the reading comprehension. speaking of which, I just retook my ASVAB, and all my scores went up. Last time I took the ASVAB was back in 99 I think. GT of 139, up from 127 I think.
There are talks about starting up a pipeline that does not require UPT.
don't make me get started about DFC's
from what i understand they wont make that decision for at least a year...they want to see how the UPT grads do first....thats what the General told us (I'm at a UPT base)
the term drop means ... what plane you got assigned to
At least the UPT grads only do UAV for two or three years.
I wouldn't mind being a UAV pilot for the rest of my career.
