FINISH THE FUCKING BOOK.
Must be nice to be a best-selling author. I think he puts in about 1 hour of actual work per week.
Dance of Dragons is coming out in September.
i cannot wait
He's going to end up like Robert Jordan, and die before he finishes his work.
I know that's meant as a joke, but at the rate this guy produces his books, I'm actually very concerned about that.
I have had this concern for a very long time. He had a pizza tour a few years and I wrote to him telling him to lay off the pizzas
How many are there supposed to be? I hope he doesn't get sidetracked working on the HBO series. Of course he'll still have at least 4 years before he needs to finish the sixth book if they stick to the "one book = a whole season" deal. But the way he writes he'll need it.
changed to May 09 from what I hear
i thought it was april 09
im only just now halfway through Storm of Swords, though. so the wait wont be nearly as bad as it's been for you ppl
what's going to suck is that i still wont know what happens until 2 books from now, and by then i'll just have more questions.
Amazon used to have it listed for release in September but not anymore. i had my hopes up. i'm almost done with a Feast for Crows and was hoping my wait for the next book wouldnt be too long.
I feel worse for people who finished A Feast for Crows 2 and a half years ago... they = :Owned:
AFFC was a serious disappointment anyway. No Tyrion? Are you fucking kidding me?
Yeah, I was disappointed that a lot of my fav chars, like Jon Snow and Tyrion weren't featured. It was still an awesome book though.
very true.but we did get to read jaime and cersei, and that was pretty interesting. cersei's such a maniac.
and @ "ser pounce caught a mouse, but lady whiskers stole it from him!"
George R.R. Martin is my favorite fantasy author since Wheel of Time went to shit (and then RJ died )
Hell no, he's going to kill himself to prove that you can kill every single contributing character in a novel series!
Wheel of time series was an epic piece of boring shit.
Yeah I did like Jaime's heel-face turn, and it's nice to see that Cersei is finally getting what's been coming to her, but no Jon Snow and no Tyrion is hard to swallow. Instead we get way, WAY too much Brienne and Sam.
In a related note, here's the latest news on the HBO GoT series from GRRM's blog. Looks like things are starting to move forward (slowly)!
"I have some exciting news to share.
(But please, guys and gals, don't get TOO excited. This is what it is, and so far that's all it is, so don't make any assumptions).
HBO has just exercised its option, and purchased the television rights to A GAME OF THRONES.
For those of you who don't know Hollywood, an option gives a production company the right to buy a property (a book, a screenplay, whatever) at a certain agreed-upon price for a certain period of time (a year, six months, whatever). When that time runs out, they can let the option lapse, renew the option, or exercise the option and buy the property. The last is what HBO has just done.
What they have NOT done is greenlight the project. A GAME OF THRONES remains in development. They're still budgeting, still looking at locations (Spain and the Czech Republic at present, I hear). No decision has been reached, so any celebration would be premature. In Hollywood it is always best not to assume something is going to happen until it actually happens.
Even so... this is a very encouraging sign, and one that suggests a continued high level of enthusiasm and commitment for A GAME OF THRONES at HBO.
So keep your fingers crossed."
holy FUCK If I trust anyone to make ASOIAF into a television series, it's HBO
Rome, with Dragons.
how much books have martin write on the asoiaf series?
