...and the rooms were empty. It's good to see that casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan are slowing down so much that the 5 east ward at Bethesda was cleared out empty. Ever since I was wounded and did my one and a half month stay at Bethesda I've been making a visit to the 5 East ward of the hospital every month. It meant so much to me when other Marines/veterans/civilians who did not know me visited me to see how I was doing and thank me. I felt real good then and I hope to pass that joy, pride, and self respect to others by doing the same thing for those that are fortunate enough to survive their wounds.
