Taking a riding course to freshen up my motor skills and gets me a license again. Haven't ridden a bike in 6 years. What would you guys recommend for a decent bike in teh 600-750cc range that is under $4750.

The only thing that stands out in my mind is that once or twice a month I would take a trip up north that is 3 hours round trip for a weekend. So even if I found a steal of a ducati thats probably out

    cbr600
    katanas
    gsxr600

welcome to suggestions, treat me like a new owner

Suzuki SV650s, you can get a new/less than 1k miles for that much.

The CBr's and GSXR's have very sensitive throttles, not good if you haven't ridden in a while. The 600 katanas are OK if you can stand their looks.

SV 650's are great overall. I'd suggest avoiding the Katana unless you found one you loved for dirt cheap.

    sv650

They are ridiculously low in price. No squid wants an sv650.

    Katanas are garbage.

    SV650 FTW, followed by F4i.
