Do you have to do the transfer through a FFL?
This is TX
If it's a face-to-face transaction, no. But a receipt of some kind is a good record to keep.
As long as the friend can legally own the gun and you both live in the same state and your state does not require registration or FFL transfer..........
Oregon used to have the common sense selling rule ,ie they look crazy, you know that they're a criminal they said they wanna kill someone etc etc... it changed to a background check that cost around 13 bucks and a bill of sale on all firearms here. Call a local gun shop or packing.org
for a long gun: nothing is needed, we call it the parking lot special
fora hand gun: one you buy it you have to register it at the local police station
yeah he is legal and nothing shady, he just likes mine and I want another one
In texas, private sale from person to person is legal. No paperwork, plus your friend doesn't even have to be 21.
what about the serial number and stuff its still tied to me isnt it?
TX has no gun registration and it isn't registered on the federal level (kinda). The original 4473 (yellow paper) will have your name on it but all you have to do is have a bill of sale to your friend and you are fine.
OK cool, this guy I know and I know he wouldnt shoot anyone or anything I work with him. We went shooting and he liked my 9mm so much he basically offered to buy it. I wanted something different since I sitll have my XD-40
i did a face-to-face at the last gun show, gave him money, he gave me the gun-- no questions asked
Is there any site on this that has state-by-state information?
Packing.org is pretty good.
yeah, its a registration
yes, you are a fucking idiot...you are telling me you don't have to register a handgun
tell me where you live at GVSU and I will come slap you for being retarded
here we go
little more to it than just a saftey inspection
come get some.
A handgun registration system has time and time again come under fire, and according to Michigan State Police, it is a safety inspeciton only.
that being said, they keep a detailed list of their safety inspections.
