A close friend of mine died Wednesday in a horrific accident. I have been a wreck for the last few days...I cannot afford to fly back to Colorado for her funeral tomorrow morning, so I held a service for her here tonight, attended by some friends who met her when she came for my wedding in June. She loved anything Japanese related, so I thought floating a candle down the river for her would be a good thing...it floated out beautifully. I sang a song for her, and then we climbed to the top of the railroad bridge near us to watch it. It burned clearly and made it at least as far as the next bridge...we couldn't see it after that. I hope she liked it. Picture-wise, I wish I had gotten the first one a little straighter, and that I had been able to catch more of the water ripple in the second.
