is that the "right" way to do it?
using dumbbells, not that it matters
There is no "right" way.
What are you trying to do?
build mass but also cut up a bit
im doing sets of 10/70lbs on the flat
THEN i do inclines
I do inclines before flat
do either first.
the inclines are going to hit your shoulders more and your chest less. find out which is less important and do that second.
switch it up once in a while. I'm starting off doing inclines first because it's usually a weakpoint of mine, my bench has always been decent but my incline sucks.
After about 5 weeks of that I'll switch to traditional method of bench first/incline, etc.
I say always incline first. A good 30% angle. Also you're at your strongest first up, so hitting higher up on your pec coupled with your shoulders and tric will see a greater boost in your overall bench numbers.
But yes, each their own.
I switch every other week.... but then again I'm not exactly a model for fitness.
hmmm I do 3 sets of BB flats then 3 sets of incline DB
pur says flyes first
I try to hit each bodypart twice per week so usually alternate which one I start off with.
In Soviet PuRussia, Flyes do you first
i typically don't do both in one workout.
I used to switch back and forth but now i always do incline first unless I'm trying to go heavy
speaking of db flies.. how important are they? I do them from time to time but don't really feel anything.... my bodybuilder friend says they are useless if you go heavy on the bench press
yikes gym was packed at night.....usually go in the morning. The damn benchs were full so I decided to start with incline DB remembering this thread. It was amazing how easy 65 felt in each hand the first set since I wasnt already spent from the bb benching. I ended up with 3 set of 10 with two at 60 and one a 65
I saved flat bench till very last because of the crowd and if suffered TERRIBLY, bleak numbers in log
Just be thankful that you haven't reach the limit of the db's at your gym ... that is sad times ...
