this fucking sucks. it was on my final set and i was going for 340lbs. i did 320lbs before that quite easily so i figured i'd go for 1RM. 3 or maybe 4 inches off the ground and i felt a sharp pull in my lower back. i can't bend my back much or put all my weight on my right foot for a long time so walking's a chore. /rant

any tips on how to deal with this? ice or heat? :sadwavey:

    ice, ibuprofin, and more ice

give it a day or two if it doesnt lessen up see a doctor

edit: didn't see the right foot thing - thats nerves and shit, see a doctor ASAP. any back problem that effects your foot isnt good

man, y'all need to learn how to use a belt, this is like the 3rd 'i hurt myself maxing on deads' post this week. if you press your abs out against a tightly sinched belt, and don't let your air out til you lockout - shit like this doesnt happen

Hell I never used a belt for a long time and had no problems, you just gotta be real careful about not rounding your back.

if you can honestly say that you arent lifting hard or heavy enough

especially in this case, because he could have prevented this injury by staying tight... by using a belt

    :dunno:

Right now my DL is limited more by grip than my back. But I'm still able to lift more than the OP and have never had a problem (knock on wood).

and its not like you are using a belt on every exercise... only heavy compound movement that need you to stay tight.

you dont belt up for the lat pulldown or some shit

Fuck that. On every other board on the net, OP means "original poster."

lol.. UCF gym is nice :) I dont go to steel mill anymore, though I will need to from Aug 1-16th..

I am gonna make DatacomGuy come out there with me.. and Elfling and I are organizing a meet.. we will lift @ steel mill during the day (7$ per person for a day pass) and then go to dinner down at citywalk..

    steelmill has monolift/deadlift platform/db's up to 185 :)

    Not at all.

Fine - what's the "OT" way of identifying the original poster?
