I just bought an internal hard drive enclosure, along with an internal hard drive. They are compatible with each other, and everything was connected and installed properly. However, the problem was that my computer (2005 Dell Latitude D610 with XP) recognized the disk as being connected, did not assign it a drive letter and also was unable to format it. I have one other external, if that matters to anything. My questions: Is the jumper setting supposed to be on Master or Slave? How is it that the computer recognizes the plug-n-play hard disk but doesn't assign it a drive letter or anything of the sort? Am i doing something wrong?
