My Windows XP desktop (BFG nForce 4 Ultra Motherboard) is having internet connectivity problems. Last night, the LAN connection would 'blink' cable is unplugged and LAN is connected. I tried uninstalling it and reinstalling the card, restarting computer, going through DHCP and static addresses, power cycling the router and modem, popping in a new NIC and trying the same steps as the integrated card, booting into live ubuntu and renewing/assigning static addresses to it, nothing works. When it has a static IP, it can't ping/tracert/web anything, even the router. I also tried doing a system restore, but that doesn't solve it.

The desktop is connected to a Netgear 8 port switch which is connected to a Linksys WRT54GS Wireless-G router, which is connected to a DSL router. Since I can go online with my wireless laptop and through my desktop's LAN connection via another laptop, I've isolated the problem to my desktop, but its weird that two LAN connections failed to connect.

    Can any one help?
