The aborted home invasion happened in the Lakeshore Grande apartments on Faith Drive, not far from Cross Creek Mall. The teenager who was killed was a former South View High School student, police and a school official said. He was identified as Buchkechio Geddie, 16, of the 3200 block of Winesap Road in Hope Mills. The soldier who lives in the apartment said he and his wife were in bed about 5:30 a.m. “I just heard the door busting and he charged into the room,” the soldier said. He reached for a .40-caliber handgun he keeps on a bedside stand and fired at the intruder, who had entered the bedroom. The intruder ran after he was shot. The soldier said police found a pistol behind the apartment. The four men drove to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where Buchkechio died, said Jamie Smith, Police Department spokeswoman. The youth was the youngest of four people who burst into the apartment. Police have charged the other three with first-degree burglary and felony conspiracy. They are: Kwuame Keaton, 17, of the 6500 block of Foxberry Road. He is reportedly as student at Westover High School. His bail was set at $50,000. Torrian Dontez Knowles, 18, of the 5000 block of Pinewood Drive in Hope Mills. His bail was set at $50,000. Michael Gerald Fripp Jr., 22, of the 5000 block of Woodspring Drive in Hope Mills. He has also been charged with contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. His bail was set at $60,000. Brian Edkins, an assistant principal at South View High School, said Geddie no longer attended the school, but South View was providing counseling for students affected by his death.
