edit: oh irvin
edit2: oh silva can do whatever the fuck he wants, he is that good.
Balls, I just saw that. I guess its just habit and I should have just said sandman. Like I said, Michael Irving thinks Anderson should move down.
At first I felt bad for Irvin because he was the sacrificial lamb, but now I'm looking forward to him getting his face knocked off.
I hope the sandman wins.
Irvin has a valid point. Even if Silva can legitimately be a 205er, he can still potential guys that are far bigger and stronger than him.
Silva is freakishly strong for his build, but if he stays at 205 he will face bigger stronger guys.
A big guy that cuts a lot to get to 205, has heavy hands and a great chin is a danger for Silva (though I've always felt that about any 185er with the same attributes).
I've heard a few people that have fought Silva say that he ended up being much stronger than they were expecting. The fact that Irvin is relying on his strength is going to be trouble for him. IMO his only chance is the Serra style knockout.
and given irvin's size and punching power, that isn't too unlikely.
I'm a fan of Silva but i hope Irvin puts the hurt on
I think Irvin has a chance if he can check leg kicks and keep it standing.....
that's his worst case scenerio imo. he needs to take him down, out muscle him, and put him in a bad position. His size will play very little help in his stand up with Silva. However, on the ground he might be able to out muscle, hold down, and get the cut.
heck, with Irvin's power, if he could take silva down, he could finish him on the ground
If he takes him down hes gonna get submitted
I want to see Irvin in the clinch with Silva, he says he'll beat him there
That doesn't mean that it is.
are you fucking serious?
If Hendo couldnt do it, I highly doubt Irvin can.
Hendo's GnP isn't that strong.
B/c that worked out for all the guys that have better ground skills than Irvin that have taken him down.
I still say Silva's skills off his back are massively overrated because a half-dead lutter collapsed into a triangle. He did nothing but hold on for dear life vs. hendo, didn't even put him back in guard.
fact is he's fucked wherever this fight goes. This is like planning for a best case scenerio for a plane crash.
he did well with Hendo on top of him.
