Boiling water is the fucking shiznit for removing cosmo. That is fucking all.
Mineral spirits > boiled water
Nope. You've obviously never tried boiling water. Cosmo just wipes off. Most of it stays in the water anyways
The surface cosmo is easy to get off, it's the cosmo deep down in the wood which is a pain in the ass, mineral spirits penetrate the wood and get out every last drop of it. Finish it off with some boiled linseed oil or tung oil and you're good to go
I guess the boiling water melts the cosmo though and it seeps out from the wood as if you were using a heat gun.
I just bake my stock in the oven.
I've never given a fuck.
Mineral spirits for the metal, the oven for the stock.
im talking for metal.
david? you've never given a fuck about removing cosmo? you just shoot it how you get it? Thats cool...
gunscrubber for bore/non-finished metal parts, breakfree for the rest
I'm tempted to try the dishwashing treatment..
shooting is the true way to get cosmo out.
everyone else is a pussy
My perferred method is bumpfire... burn it out
Think I may purchase a handheld steamer too..
Sure if you like having your hands covered in the shit when you pick the gun up to fire it.
Just use Diesel...
I'd like to watch some people try to shoot a few sks's without cleaning them first. There will be a slamfire for sure.
This is why I like buying from Big 5. Neither of my Mosins needed more than a quick wipe down. I think I spent 15 minutes total between the two of them.
I hear lighter fluid works, or gasoline. Steam is good too. dishwasher is a new one.
leaving it in the desert sun ftw
Hand steamer FTMFW
Dishwasher > hand steamer > spirits > hot water
i just bring an old towel with me.
