Ever since I got serious (in my mind) about photography, I decided a change was needed. That change includes more of a focus on what I want to do -- photography, mainly weddings, etc. -- and less focus on being a *company man* and trying to move up in a company that could cut me down in a heartbeat and devastate my financial well being if I don't do one thing they like.
So for the last 2 1/2 months I've been looking for a little less stressful job and less of a management role than I have now... I manage an automotive shop, been w/ the company for 10 years. I've looked into doing inside/outside sales w/ companies that do commercial/fleet sales and don't deal w/ John Q. Public. Can't be too hard to find a job like that w/ management and sales experience, right?
Well, after 2 1/2 months and about 30 resumes dropped, I get 2 phone calls the same day and I have 2 interviews tomorrow. 1 in the morning, 1 in the afternoon. I'm hoping something works out soon, because the more I start booking, the more important my weekends become to me. Until this photography thing takes off, I need me a stable income to support my habits and my family.
I thought about becoming the next adamlewis, but camera shops don't pay anywhere near what I make. Not to mention, I don't have enough 'knowledge' for them.
