Now what kind etc... AK owners here?
find a kit you like and some guys around you and build your own
in on 1
I want to spend $500 or less (no accessories like x mags, etc... just gun and 1 mag)
Arsenal but it'll cost you more then $500, more like 7 n change. You can get a polish underfolder for 5 n change.
I like wood stocks
You want 7.62x39? You can find a MAK90 thats been converted over to full stock for under $500. Or look for a SAR can findem for $3xx.
No offense, seriously... but I've NEVER seen an AK-47 local more then $500 without some badass extras
I thought you were looking for something of decent fit and finish, just get a $320 WASR then, refinish the wood, throw in a g2 trigger, maybe refinish the metal and still have $100 left for accessories/mags
Hmm... that sounds like it could be a good idea... how's the performance/accuracy?
Basically I want the best rifle for the money, reguardless of looks... but the looks must be "fixable" so over time I can add/fix stuff
What is the de facto "stay away" AK47?
None of the Century rifles are tack drivers by any means but there about on par for average AK accuracy. I have 2 SAR's and 1 WASR they all worked ok out of the box, if you go this route I would say be prepared to make a new trigger group your first mod cause its not uncommon to get one that has trigger slap. The finish on the wood usually looks pretty crappy when you get them but the original wood does clean up nice with a sanding and restaining.
I've never had a malfuction in my SAR1, the SAR2 and WASR2 can both be picky about what countries mag's they like though.
Anything with Hesse or Joken stamped on the reciever.
Is this AK any good? It's Romanian but it has a chrome lined barrel and "no slap" trigger.
If you like that furniture its ok, I'd get the one with wood for $319 I dont care for that furniture. Its just a WASR with dressed up furniture and different front sight on it.
if its made by Century, its sketch. They cant even get a scope mount correct.
whats this g2 trigger you speak of? I know that WASR2 im getting will have some trigger slap.....but it def better not have a canted sight. Atleast I can check for that in store
It may not have slap not all of them do, they all do have pretty shitty triggers though, You can get G2 triggers from tapco for $30-35, centerfire and alot of other places that sell AK stuff havem too. If you want to spend a little more consider the RSA trigger twice as much but there real nice.
Midway has the G2's for $29.99 http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=799634
