What type of settings do yall go with as I've never shot fireworks b4, except w/ a P&S?
we had a big fireworks show saturday and i used 5" shutter w f/3.5 or a 3" shutter. all the smoke got in the way of some of the photos and messed them up. at the big finale i had to go down to 1.3" b/c it was so bright
Nice, did you use a shutter release cable?
remote in manual mode
What type of remote?
I had a little bit of luck going with 1/4" exposures at f/5.6, and just kept hitting the shutter, checking on what I got later.
Also, lock in your focus before it gets too dark. Autofocus at night is teh sux.
Out of curiousity, what lens were you using?
Is this shutter cable worth a try?...
Pretty cheap and I'm sure quality isn't great, but it's 15 bucks, not 50?
not even from a dslr
g6 handheld, M mode, f/2 1/40, continuous burst for a little over a minute
Can you post any of them in higher res?
the kit lens. i wanted to use my tamron 28-75 but i didnt know if it would fit everything into the frame and didnt want to have to fool with it after the show started
should i use a lens hood when shooting to prevent flare?
ive never needed it from shooting fireworks alone. if there are street lamps around it might help
also, remember to keep your iso low.
You're likely pointing your camera at the source of flare, so the hood might not help as much as you would want it to.
Definitely, I was reading up on it yesterday.
Wouldn't you be focusing to infinity anyways?
Fireworks are easy, because you don't have to use a tripod
I can't wait to shoot fireworks this year
not at all. a tripod is really a must
