today will be my first trip to the gym. any tips?
dont curl in the squat rack.
dont onyl work on biceps. and get a routine a follow it.
learn to do deadlifts and squats
and don't worry about looking weak, everyone has to start somewhere
kickbacks, with heavy ass weight.
You = mad respect
don't be afraid to take time to learn proper form
I'm 6'0 240lbs on a big frame. So obviously I need to drop some weight. Any suggestions on how much/type of cardio I should mix in with the freeweights? and supplements that would work well for me?
Form > weight.. dont try to be superman and lift more than you can.
Westside for someone who's never been in a gym before
Form first then weight. The weight will come in time. Make sure you are doing the sets correctly then add weight. This way you will not injure your self and have constent gains if that's what your shooting for.
Don't be one of those people that only uses the machines.
what part of MD do you live in?
work your lower body
find the biggest guy, kick his ass, steal his gf. oh wait, it's not highschool....
why not get one of the gym trainers to hook you up on a program. I know all new people at our gym get that option. They get a 3 month program where they meet weekly with their trainer to discuss their progress/spot them/etc whatever.
Put your weights away when you're done with them!!!
Don't try too much too quick, you'll just end up looking like a fucking newb/hurting yourself.
True, if you try to start out heavy with bad form you will only injure yourself and set back any progess.
