LASD may possibly be issuing the M&P9 to the next academy class.

I might be in that next academy class :x:

Maybe a dept finally realized there's no advantage to .40 over 9mm. :hsughno:

^ yea that whole ~10g difference in weight between a .40 and 9mm is a real deal breaker :coolugh:

We issue shitty non-working Smith and Wessons to recruits until they recieve firearms training at which point they carry thier own duty weapon that they purchased. IMHO, departments that force officers to all use the same gun in the same caliber are fools. The policy here makes me happy, since I can use my Sig 226 as a duty weapon.

They even go so far as to advise new recruits with no firearms experience to not purchase anything until they start the academy and go through a firearms selection class in week 3 where they get to handle just about every gun on the approved list.

For a department that's just starting to get Remington 870's, it might be a while.

How will the deputies carry "safety on" with the M&P's, :mamoru:

Yeah, I noticed that most of the shotguns in the cruisers are some beat to shit old school guns.

I believe the only authorized duty gun for the CHP is the S&W 4006. :ugh2:

Don't get me wrong, if SHTF the boom stick will still go bang. Just LASD are slow to replace things, they're tight on money just like every other SoCal department.

My first gun. Bought it with another LASD Sheriff. It's been so long I actually forgot about the gun  I think LASD just approved H&K's so everyone was buying one to replace the Beretta.
