I went to Video Games LIVE! (http://www.videogameslive.com) as Princess Zelda. SO much fun! I'm definitely doing this again next year. I made my costume...it doesn't look quite right, but I had fun putting it all together, so...I don't care. Most pieces were modded items from the thrift store. Mwahaha. My skirt, which you sadly can't see very well in the pics, was made from a white table cloth with gold painted details around the bottom. I had some of the jewelery already; I re-assembled some of it and painted the 'gems' blue. The Hyrulian Crest piece on the front was cut from the same dress that the top piece is from...I spent hours cutting, stitching and painting it. I cut and stitched the top piece, as well as modding the back to be corset-style. The "crown" was a beaded belt from the thrift store that I glued a jewel to, and the shoulder armor I cut from the lids of some decorative boxes that a friend bought for me. (I had tried to carve them from foam, but I found out the hard way that spray paint eats styrofoam. o_o) The sword came from the dollar store; I cut the hilt, carved down the blade a little, painted the handle and wrapped it with a strip of purple cloth. AND IT WAS ALL WORTH IT! xD (the photo quality is crap, sorry.) My husband went as Commander Keen. Other people: Annnd, the concert itself: Funnest thing I've been involved with in a LONG time.
