Good bunch going on the main page so why not another one....

Brown some beef ribs cut into bite sizish pieces (did it in tallow).

Remove and set aside...

Add in onion, couple of carrots, and some celery (do not worry they will be pulled out at the end).

Grind up some dried mushrooms...

Add in 2 TB of the dried mushrooms, 2 TB of tomato paste, couple cloves of garlic. Let it go for about 30 seconds. Dump in 1 cup of red wine, reduce by 1/2. Couple of sprigs of thyme and a sprig of rosemary.

Add in 2 cups of beef stock and put the beef back in. Put a lid on it and shove in 325 degree oven.

(forget to take a picture)

Let it go for a couple of hours until the beef is tender.

Remove the onions, celery, and carrot.

Start cooking some egg noodles and while you wait get some mushrooms and pearl onions cooking in a bunch of butter.

While you wait dump some sour cream back into the beef (about 1/2 cup).

Before you serve dump 1/4 cup of brandy into the mushrooms and light it.

Pitted, so pitted
Looks great. Found a fantastic beef stroganoff near Kalispell, MT recently. What are some of your favorite meals? What do you eat on your birthday?

favorite meals..oh man way too many to list but this time of year it is a lot of braises. Summer a lot of grilling.

really never do anything crazy for birthdays. Heck wife turned 50 this year and I think we just ordered tacos from a local place and that was it.
