linux install/boot sector question

Discussion in 'OT Technology' started by johnnywallywallace, Sep 24, 2003.

  1. I have two drives, c: with 1 ntfs and 1 linux partition, win2k the active partition and the writer of the boot sector, d: with a vfat and 2 linux partitions, in that logical order on the drive. drive c: failed yesterday. can I install linux to my d: drive, and have the boot loader overwrite the boot sector, without losing my vfat partition?

No matter what the drive layout (of which I couldn't decipher :)) you should be able to overwrite the boot sector without damaging any of the other partitions on the drive.
