I'm in the QA field, and my company recently asked me to begin learning about load testing because potential clients often ask about it. They gave me a few tools (TestComplete 6 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2008) and told me to learn. I've never worked directly with developers or load testing before - so I'm not sure how to analyze load testing results for useful information. I've browsed a few forums and seen phrases like "I can give you a hammer, but you still won't be able to build a cabinet" when talking about someone who knows how to use a load testing tool vs someone who actually knows how to do load testing. So at this point, I know how to use my hammer - but I'm lost as to how I can start building a cabinet. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge on this subject?
