Jeremy Clarkson FTMFW!
I love this show and .50 BMG's
I would have taken that car
Is there a new season of Top Gear? I thought I was caught up and never saw that.
i've never seen that before either, what season/episode is that?
he's right, too. My ex had a prius and she averaged 41mpg. I averaged 44mpg in it just because I get off the gas sooner and let it coast to lights. Overall, it was a fucking horrible car. You'd be better off in any number of small gas/diesel vehicles.
You can't take a very small gas engine, over-work it, and add all the extra weight of electric motors, generators, and control circuits, and expect it to actually get better fuel economy. The only saving grace is the regenative breaking. Take away that, and I'm sure the gas mileage would plumit.
same. But I don't think it was topgear. He does lots of other stuff. It could have also been something that didn't get to air.
He did review a prius for topgear, but that was not the same segment. In the actual clip he drives through town and complains how no one can hear it coming and you would just run over small children playing in the street.
LOL I hate hybrids. .50 FTW.
he's also right with the golf diesel bit...they get 42mpg. granted its diesel and costs over $4 a gallon, but still
I get 44mpg out of mine and that is city/highway mix. Has that diesel power band and the ability to run on svo one day if I so choose.
You have to drive them differently (read: "like a grandpa") to get the really great mileage out of them.
I think it was from The Good, the Bad & the Ugly.
but you could do the same with a non-hybrid and improve your mileage.
plus the non-hybrid is going to be ~$5k cheaper. $5k buys a lot of gas.
Plus the fuel tank in a standard diesel / gas powered car doesn't need replacing in ~5 years like the battery pack on any hybrid does. Have fun with that bill.
PS, like Clusive said, it's from the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. It was released as a DVD I believe. He does these DVD specials all the time.
american car makers will tell you the american auto industry as a whole leads the world in hybrid sales. we have the most hybrids on the road per capita I think.
but they won't tell you
many of the non hybrids in europe get better mileage than the hybrids in america.
lol, try selling a car with a 1 liter engine to an American.
"lol fag car blah blah "
Do you realize how small and dangerous the cars in Europe would be over here? I rode around in a Taxi that was about the size of a Toyota Matrix and it was a big car over there. They don't have a bunch of 18 wheelers and pickup trucks over there. Not to mention the average car is unsafely slow by American standards (by our speed limits that is).
If EVERYONE drives a go-cart, then go-carts are safe for the road. But that's not the case... so I wouldn't trust myself in a go-cart. And I think some of our go-carts are safer than those euro-milk-cartons.
