I like that episode type of Next Generation where they are on the Royale.
Yes one of my favorite TNG episodes very underrated that never makes any "must watch" lists but I like it.

Someone here had a good guide on watch order, but I'd say skip the original series for now, and Start with The Next Generation.

Here's one I found from a simple search

I like their ratings, reviews, and site

All true, but TOS is the foundation of the whole series. I just don't get how you can care about all the rest without knowing kirk and spock and mccoy. Yeah there were some bad episodes, but damn, at least watch a top 10 or something.
I've seen them all before, used to watch every night when I was a kid at 11.

But that said a new watcher would easily give up on the franchise if they started there, from everything I've seen from other people reaction

i became a fan via TNG and only watched (most of) TOS and the TOS era movies after-the-fact. :dunno: To me Picard and crew are the soul of Star Trek, Kirk and crew feel more like the prototype. :o

I learned the rules of baseball watching Star Trek The Original Series. I would watch baseball on WGN Channel 2, and when there is a rain delay, they would play an episode of Star Trek The Original Series. As a kid in the 90's, that is how I learned the rules of baseball.

I feel as if the TOS crew really shined in the films. The TG series was okay but it feels more like TV Land nick at night kind of "classic" black and white Leave it to Beaver Lost in Space Gilligan's Island kind of thing.

Picard and crew don't even exist if millions of angry TOS fans aren't burying the studio in letters demanding they bring it back, for 10 years.

One can glean enough from their relationships/bonds from just watching them grow in the movies. They played the same characters in the movies. I LOVED them all by Star Trek 4, really 3.

TNG on the other hand, they gave us action-versions of their characters in the movies. :hsd:
