I know HDR is frowned upon, but I really like how this one turned out.
I was confused when I saw your name and thought I was in the wrong forum for a sec
Horizon is too centered and the foreground is pretty bright, but I do like it.
I was PPing when I noticed I centered the horizon. It's funny, because I'm super picky about that I point it out in other pictures (center-itis)
hdr in black and white is definitely better than hdr in color
But yes, highlights in the foreground are somewhat distracting. I could go eitherway about the horizon in this one, cause it's atleast got the boat breaking it up.
The foreground IS bright, I will admit. But HDR in color (another version of this same image) looked too fake.
As they always do
mark man your skies are always full of aids
It was the HDR that did that:
Color & non HDR.
Edit: Damn jpg artifacts
Good subject, wrong time of day. A little more of the boat would be nice too.
Nice shot though!
Here is the actual image, straight from the camera, converted to jpg (Qual: 12), no pp work.
I think my $15 polarizer is the problem. I always have shitty skies no matter what.
Aside from the bright foreground, I like it!
mind if i try my hand at some PP on the as-shot version?
my take on b&w edit
fixed...not all HDR is bad or overdone. there is a time and place for good HDR but you don't see it very often because it is being mixed with bad.
I like the second shot best.
just my take
Sky seems blown out now
I like the color non-hdr image more than anything else thats been posted.
