The sweet sound of an Italian v-twin.
I've seen that happen to a couple singles, have any more details (milage, etc)?
Saw one that the valve stem punched through the piston after the valve head broke off. That one just left the head in the piston
WOW... thats impressive, what the fuck happened?
Im wondering the same thing.
dropped a valve. hows that impressive?
The board I found it on simply said something along the lines of "thats what happens when you ride at redline."
Piston collision perhaps?
Desmo valve gear is sexy and all, but I do love the whine of my gear driven cams (actuating more normal valvetrain parts)
and mine runs without destroying the top end.
Yeah looks like the piston punched the valve because valve spring couldnt pull the valve up fast enough or perhaps valve jammed due to fricition/heat
I ride the redline all the time at track without a problem.
remember that experement this one magazine did on ZX6R? engine ran and the red line for hours and no damage done.
point is Jap engines are > _____
I destroyed the engine on my 600rr
The guy before me drag raced my bike, so the engine was going down
i was being sarcastic....
Do Ducati's have valve springs?
are you serious?
Unless ducati engines use magnets to pull up the valves
I was right!
The desmodromic valvetrain doesn't use springs.
Huh I didnt know.
But not all Ducati engines use desmodromic valvetrain, I have seen a ducati head that used springs. Not the typical valve spring but S type springs soemthing.
