I currently have a Glock 27 for use as a backup, but i would like to find something smaller and lighter to carry. I've pretty much narrowed it down to either a J frame, or something like the LCP which a few of my coworkers carry. At this point i would rather go with the revolver than the semi automatic for a backup, especially considering you're not gaining much in the way of number of rounds with the LCP. My question is, which round would be preferred ballistically speaking...the .380, .38, or .38 +p? How much difference is there between the .380 and the .38 fired through that short of a barrel? And is there enough of an advantage to .38 +p to warrant its use?
