Budget $1500, any suggestions
I've said this before, and I generally find it to be true...
In terms of watches it's as if they fall into two tiers:
a. watches less than $500
b. watches more than $2000
the inbetween range is filled with crap like Movado
Around $2k, I've always loved the Omega Speedmaster
You could get a Ball Engineer II for example.
plenty of nice oferings from maurice lacroix, longines, etc around that price range
love my speedmaster but if I ever have the extra cash, I'd love to get an IWC. Wanted one for years..
IWC makes some sexiness
personally, i scratch my watches up too badly to ever wear a really nice one
the basic version is within your price range
anything within 500-2000 price range is shit
not anything, just in terms of the offerings from the more mainstream brands
go vintage, take a look maybe at valjouix movements, you can get some really unique baller watches. all my shit is vintage.
the 6497 movement is also known very well in the watch community. it is used in watches that are $5000+...it's A LOT of watch for the dollar. a non-chrono can be had for 5-600$
i used to feel the same until i did more research. there's a lot of "inbetween" watchmakers that are definitely imo
I'd love to check them out.
Official Watch Thread, anyone?
very IWC, no?
hmm..upon looking at the Steinhart site (I dont know anything about this company, so pardon my ignorance), it seems each 'style' they have is an homage to a more popular brand:
Diver = Rolex
Aviation = Bell + Ross
Marine = ?
Premium & Pilot & Nav Chrono = IWC
ChronoShark seems to have some good deals, thoughts on this one?
They do pay homage to those other watch makers...but every watch forum I go to they get amazing reviews and some people count them in their collections of other 5000$+ watches
So INCREDIBLY wrong.
there are about 10 watch manufacturies worlwide, above mentioned nomos Glashütte is one of them an priced from 1000$
got my speedmaster pro with a fresh service and the newer (more desirable...to me) 1998 bracelet for $1600 shipped.
just saw that this company (designed in SF, watches built in switzerland) just started to sell...not sure what i think of them yet.
