Looks like my camping trip with the kids this Spring Break just got harder

Was going to spend the week at Pfeiffer Big Sur Campground with the kids the first week of April. This happened maybe ~1hr south of the campground. Now I gotta drive up the 101 to Monterey and go back down south. Add 1-2hrs to the trip. No big deal, but not as pretty of a drive.

I think they built this thing to keep another portion of the cliff side from coming down...or at least keep boulders from coming off into the road?
