64GB solid state drive ftw
1000 bucks FTL
The price difference between SSD and HDD is absolutely ridiculous. I know SSDs are expensive, but apple marked that shit up an insane amount.
newegg can't find a cheaper one yet....
not to mention that that one is also bigger than 1.8"......
Dell charge $900, cheapest I could find on an online store was $1700 for 1.8" ($1500 for 2.5"). I'm sure they are making a profit on it, but I think it is unfair to say they are marking it up an insane amount.
When they don't change the price and SSD prices drop, then I think they are fair game for criticism.
Obviously new technology is overpriced, but it's a good sign for the future. I have to haul my iBook everywhere I go for work, and the Air is looking like an awesome replacement in a year or so.
SS drives will drop in price sooner or later.
whats the diff b/t a solid state drive and the other one?
there is a good webite on it -> here
have you looked at the price of SSD drives lately?
cheapest 1.8" 32Gig is about $400
a 2.5" 128Gig is about $3000
now want to guess what a 1.8" 64gig drive is?
if you don't believe me, just look on newegg...
MacBook Air is worthless, even the Apple employees I went out drinking with last night think so.
way too expensive for what it is ... Apple has their head up their ass this time
I think sony's 12" has the option of a 32gb SSD for 600 more, so the SSD option for the macbook air isn't that unreasonable. Prices will come down once this technology penetrates more than just early adopters.
macbook air is a lifestyle accessory, no thanks
