i don't think i've ever started a thread in the closet, so be kind i'd been getting manicures for months - i was getting a french manicure with the solar nail "stuff". i took them of about a month ago because i was unable to afford the upkeep. even though solar nails are supposed to last up to three weeks, my nails were growing so fast that i'd end up getting them done every 2 weeks, and since solar nails are twice what regular acrylics are, i simply couldn't afford it. i decided to try a natural look. unfortunately the manicures ruined my natural nails, and while they are beginning to look normal again, it is still difficult to grow them out due to the damage from the drilling and perhaps simply the fact that my nails aren't as strong as i'd like. i'd been painting them, but there the upkeep is ridiculous, removing chipped polish and painting again each night... also, is it possible that the salon i was going to was not doing a very good job that i was able to see the drill lines on my nails under the acrylic/false nail? and the fact that my nails were destroyed after i removed the nails (i soaked them in acetone and very gently wiped it off - no picking, etc.) if i go back to acrylics, i would not be able to do the solar nails again, i simply can't afford it. what does the closet recommend? cliffs: unable to afford solar nails, difficulty growing natural nails (possibly due to manicure damage) what options are out there.
