So um, when are we going to get our hot little hands on one of these guns? Hopefully Bushmaster won't have fucked it up royally before people can test them out.

lol @ Magpul

Guys, this is pretty ridiculous.

Magpul funded this with their own money. It hasn't cost you a single cent. They haven't robbed you, or taken anything away from you. They didn't sell you a gun, and then require you to sell it back to them so that they could give it to the military.

They're a private business. They chose to sell production rights to another business. That business wants to get a government contract. Why? To make money. Apparently someone over there thinks that there's money to be made entering into this contest, and that they might have a chance, so that's what they're doing.

And you know what?

Good for them. If they can make more money selling to the government than to you, more power to them. THAT'S THEIR JOB –– to make as much money as possible. If they're wrong, then someone else will step into that market niche, and they'll sell you a product and gladly take your money.

Their job isn't to fulfill your sense of entitlement, some sense of ownership that you have because you looked at a picture of this gun and decided you wanted one. It's to make MONEY.

So the Magpul guys said that civvies come first? So far, no one has come up with a link or a post to prove it, but even if they did, what difference does it make? It's not as if they came up with the only cure to a disease that was going to kill the world, promised to give it away, and then changed their minds. Some of you act as if you'd rather see the whole thing canceled than what's happening now. Guess what –– in one of those cases you're certain to not get one.

If you want an XCR, buy one. The owner of the company supported a gun-banning RINO in the primaries. I guess that's a lesser offense than redirecting project efforts to designing a better gun for the leo/mil market at the non-expense of you guys. If you want a SCAR, buy one...for twice as much, at least, as anything else on the market not made by FN. Want to stick with your AR? Do it. It's not as if you're pulling bread from the mouths of the guys at Magpul...you never put any in to begin with.

The Magpul guys don't owe you a thing –– quit acting as if they do.

So what's so great about it? It's just an AR-15 with a gas piston?

It's actually a really cool concept. Lightweight, easy/quick caliber conversion, accepts STANAG mags, gas piston, rails, all the cool bells and whistles, and a rocking design.

I just consider it vaporware at this point.

My favorite part of the Future Weapons:

"Why would you need a weapon that can transform itself from a standard NATO round... to, well... a round that isn't a NATO round? Well, I'm going to tell you... there might be some people out there that would like to have the comfort of a weapon they're really familiar with... BUT... without... a NATO round."

:bowrofl:
