Matts Off Road Recovery. v.earth swallowed a jeep

Thunderbear

Yggdrasil's Forester.
The winch seems to be getting a lot more use nowadays. Seems he's learning.

I managed just fine without a winch for 9 years of off-roading... But now I don't like being without one. Warn's got crazy backorders on this side of the world. Local dealer had a warehouse fire in the middle of the supply chain issues. They've got the cheaper EVO series in stock now but the more specialist ones like the Zeon Platinum and the 9.5 XPS are still way out, and those are the ones I want for the Jeeps.

Next project when some work calms down is to whip the front bumper off the Volvo and see what winch I can fit in there. :naughty: I particularly don't want people snatch-pulling on that thing's tow points and of all my cars, I'm most likely to get that one stuck .

I should start charging for recovering people.

Just put some Masterpull 10K 3/16" line on a Superwinch Terra 45. Should be plenty enough oomph if you double the line with a pulley to the tow loop. Sand is similar to snow with a way lower coefficient of friction than mud or rocks, so you won't even need the pulley most of the time.

Not gonna lie, I got pretty sucked in to the Golden Nugget project. But since the unveiling I haven’t watched a single video from any of those affiliated channels. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t about to watch Ed’s reaction from 19 different individual channels. I’d like to see Robby Layton focus on a single project like that old ‘69 Charger they found, but wtf is this? It’s sad that the kids dad died but what a colossal waste of time to try and rebuild this truck that wasn’t worth anything more that scrap BEFORE the wreck.

Am I just an asshole?

I wonder what the Youtube revenue will be from this project.

Looks pretty compact too - will keep it in mind in case the packaging on any of the Warn models doesn't work out.

When some current work projects calm down I'm disassembling the Volvo to 3D Scan and see what I've got to work with :)

They seem to do good work and I enjoy watching it but yeah - I could do without the cringey tiktok dances and silly drama like when they pretended to go in Camo to do the last touches on the Nugget.

Haven't watched the "dad's truck" one yet but I'm looking forward to watching it. If I was in that kids position, it would mean a lot to me to get it back on the road how it was. It helps to still have my dad's car and bike. On certain days it's nice to take his car out for a spin and have a little piece of him along for the ride.

I mean.... I kinda get it... you're looking at how wavey the reflections are so it is a good use of that filter effect thing but my god I see it everywhere and I'm done with that noise.

And at the same time... hate the game not the player... Instagram's got this weird obsession with promoting people that use the same audio that week for whatever reason. I think I just hate the whole reels thing and miss older simpler Instagram.

Get off my Porch.

Fuck I'm getting old.

No excuses for this though.

Unfollowed his channel. Ain't nobody watching 30m of bondo sanding.

"We're going to bondo this shit out of this piece of metal we pounded on for 12 hours, then we're going to sand it all off. Next, we'll spray some shit on and sand that off too. Three times. Finally, we'll paint it and sand that off six times."

Man, I don't have the patience for body work.

And at the end of the day, Ed didn't give a fuck about the mods.
