Today I competed in the SLP Flex Open. Which was a Bench/Dead/Curl meet Small turn out. Very small compared to the roster at the SPF yesterday. The meet was poorly ran from the beginning or what I saw at the SPF yesterday was perfection. One guy runs the thing, no dedicated spotters, and no dedicated bar loaders, and 1 judge. That made for an interesting day. They had a very hard time figuring out the how many plates to put on, so that slowed everything down. Lifting was to start at 2 but ended up starting at 2:30. Benches went pretty well for those guys, some pretty strong dudes and gals. 10 lifters total for bench. I didnt compete in bench because mine sucks donkey balls and I didnt want to pay another $55. Pause for a 30 minute lunch break THEN warm up for curls. This took forever. I think there were 5 or 6 lifters for curls. After that was done we took another 15 minute break and started DL warm ups. This also took forever because the warm up bar was the bar they used for lifts. My warmups went something like 135x5x1 225x5x2 315x1x2 365x1x1 405x1x1 Opened with 450 and felt strong. Good lift. 2nd attempt was 500, I stopped at my knee for some reason and got a no lift. 3rd @ 500 I also missed. I thought I had it but the 1 judge didnt. It kind of pissed me off. He was letting some shady stuff go on, especially in the BP. He was anticipating the touch so as soon at the bar was remotely close to their chest he said press. A few bouncers with good lifts. So I only ended up with a 450 pull. Im happy with that, I'll just train harder to get that 500 and more. I can honestly say I will never compete in this fed. ever again. It was way too poorly ran. Thanks to Waffle House and some friends for showing up and cheering me on. Time to start prepping for the SPF in June. Oh and another thing. Big props to Dave Tate over @ EliteFTS for giving me some help and tips.
