Let's get a metal fab thread going. We have a wood working one, so might as well have a metal one too.

Post shit you're working on.

Just finished a fire pit for the electrician that put in my 220 sub in the garage. Wanted his and his wife's last names on it. Might make myself one for the back yard.

Cost about $180 in 1/4 steel and 2-3 hours of programing/cut time.

Thats fucking awesome. I've only got a 110v tig/stick welder so I can't do anything that heavy... mostly just little sculpture stuff. Just finished this for work secret Santa for a girl who loves Harry potter :hsughw:

What's a cheap no name brand 240v welder? Haven't seen anything I found easy to use. For example you pick the amps by a b c d instead of directly. Or was that just the extreme shit ones I saw? I just want easy to use, and cheap.

Love my vulcan 215 mig. It's fantastic. All cast drive and easy to use.

Don't be scared of having to dial in settings. Every welder had a basic guide on the door for what to start out at. As you learn, you'll want the ability to really dial in the settings.

Mine is an Everlast 160 amp 110/240v dual voltage, and I really like it. Was just over 400 I think. Would like to get a true mig welder, not flux core. Would also like a 240v outlet ran to my garage so I can get full power from it

I can easily add outlets, thats always easy.

Hard part is finding scrap to play with.

Buy a cheap chop saw and a 20' stick of 1x1 16 gauge tubing (~$20). Cut it into a bunch of pieces then practice welding them together in different positions.

Time for a break, and I have been getting much done here. My last project was setting up a heater for garage

nah, this is at work.

i don't have tools and shit like that at home.

i throw enough metal away at work in a day to supply this entire thread with scraps to work on for a year.

I've had a lifetime of coping pipe and tube welding. Can probably do that in my sleep.

I'd like to learn sheet metal, because it's so thin I have not really had enough experience
