I’ve heard of contaminated gas or impure gas. Cylinder mishandled prior to fill? Saw some post where a dude was comparing airgas vs praxair or some other mix of suppliers and the difference was evident.

It's Matheson gas. I havent noticed the issue with the first half of the tank, but I don't remember if I did any grinding.

Ugh. Dealing with some random small porosity in the roots my welds. I've never had this issue before but of course it starts when I'm trying a production run. Only visible when I round off the weld.

I've tried:

Turning my gas up (all the way up to 40 scfh)
Cleaning surface more than usual
New tip and gas gas shield
Checking/greasing my orings and lines
Switching between push/pull
Shorting my stickout

Nothing's working. I'm suspecting that it's either bad wire or there's a leak somewhere that I haven't found.
Do you have a gas flow meter for your nozzle? Like this?

No. I need to get one. My tank is getting low so I'll grab one when I go fill it..
Yeah bottle regs can be off and too much gas will give you porosity.

also just get a spray bottle with dishwashing liquid and water and spray your gas connections and see if any are leaking

Cut back the front body mounts on the 4Runner over the weekend. MIG welding inverted was a bit difficult. Was able to finish without melting the bushing though.

I was having some issue's with porosity running dual shield. Ended up replacing the liner because it worn horribly, haven't had an issue since. So, maybe your liner is wore out and giving you fits.

If you’re having trouble with overhead, turn your amps down a little bit

For anyone fabricating in a tight garage, is there a safe method? Would be worried of some rogue spark getting near an ignition source. Would like some sort of metal cabinet. Was thinking of converting a section of my metal costco shelving unit.

Use fibreglass fire blankets, and get a god damn exhaust fan to get the smoke out
