I'd be surprised if a 4'x4' table stopped at 10k, certainly be over that with their accessories.

Anyone have a rivnut, plus-nut, or threaded insert tool they recommend?

Don’t want to buy the first thing on Amazon for the job I’ll be doing with it, can’t have any nuts spin on me.

Rivet Nut Tool, GIANTISAN 16" Rivnut Tool Kit with 12 Metric and SAE Mandrels, Nutsert Rivet Tool Set with 176Pcs Assorted Rivnuts, Threaded Insert Hand Riveter with Rugged Carrying Case

This is what I have and have sunk 100s of stainless threaded inserts (#10-3/8"). Hasn't missed a beat. I also don't use it to fully seat the nut. I get it about 1/2 seated then I have grade 8 bolts and washers to finish it off. I found that it's near impossible to get it straight using just the tool.

How so?

basics:

if it’s 316 stainless, use 316 wire, same for 304..

if your welding carbon to stainless, use 309
The wire is .023 ER309L , shield gas is argon at varying flow rates , electrode negative . First thing I noticed is that this wire sure seems to burn a lot faster than ER70S6 , so I bumped the feed speed up . Still ain't right , so I drop the amps a notch (this machine has 4 settings for current) and it's a bit better but still too hot . Drop it another notch and the wire isn't burning back so fast but there's zero penetration and the bead is very narrow and tall . Drop the wire feed and it's still too cold .
I'm totally lost here , I was hoping MIG welding the joints would be fast and easy but ... I ended up using the TIG to flow the welds and got things looking less like pigeons crapped on my weld seam , but that has problems too . I have no means (yet) to purge the back side of welds in tube . I did get the inside cleaned up with die grinders and flap wheels

Probably has more to do with the gas you are using than the grade of SS wire. I use a tri-mix of gas to weld SS its 90% He,7.5Ar,2.5Co. It has gotten extremely expensive because the price of He has gone through the roof. But hey, let's still waste it filling balloons with it. Instead of saving it for industry and the medical field.

That's out of the question. I looked into it before.

I didn't think 100% Ar would work at all for stainless.

75/25 AR/CO2 can work with the right wire.
