Which mig gun do you have? The blue or black handle one? I just had my black handle whip fail. Shielding gas tube came apart where its crimped at the end at the gun. I probably have 40+ hours of weld time on the particular whip and it was nothing but abused and kinked up in some bastard position welding. It looks like it wasn't put together properly from the factory. Maybe only a 1/4" of it was crimped.

use the shortest length mig cable you can still access your workpiece well , it reduces wear and tear from rolling and unrolling and reduces drag on the filler wire liner, making the parts last longer and the machine's work easier

It's a 10' gun... I've been babying it because of how expensive it was. My old HF machine I would just throw the gun on the ground lol. It's got 5 years on it now (sold to a friend) and still running strong.

It's the mdx/blue handle.

Pulled off the shark bite clamp on the machine side and found this. Not the issue, but great workmanship to have the clamp digging into the wire.

I have the Miller 215 and I am super impressed how it welds, every time I weld with it. I've used the 211 as well and it welds the same. So, I can't believe your disappointed with it.

I hadn't used a Miller since around 2010. When I bought my HF in 2017, I couldn't believe how good it was. Figured the millers and Lincolns must have improved vastly in that time too since the cheap HF was so good. The drive isn't nearly as smooth on this Miller as the HF was. Part of me is wondering if maybe I've had an issue with the gun since day one. It's never stopped mid weld though.

The odd thing is it's been working fine all day. Then I had a single burnback and it never kicked back on. It's not like I was pulling on the gun or anything.
Did you check the pins, or the plug that plugs the switch into the machine?

Yup. Switch side has continuity when pressed, plug side doesn't. Machine will kick on if I jump the plug on the machine side. Has to be a bad wire somewhere in the sheathing of the gun.

There's no way im getting the insulation off without cutting it which I obviously don't want to do. Thinking my only solution is to run some 20g wire outside of the insulation and just electrical tape it to the cord effectively bypassing the wiring inside.

Ah ha! I'm getting continuity where the insulation was cut by the clamp but not at the pink connectors. I think I must not have gotten the multimeter probes into the wire the first time I tried.

So it's likely their shit job of clamping over the wires that cut one or both of them.

Must be this connector. Cut it out and there's no continuity between the ends. Idk if I've ever seen something like this. The wires are still crimped in there tight so the only thing I can think of is they didn't strip away enough insulation before crimping on one or both wires.

be comfortable, dont try and walk the cup straight out the gate and mainly, be relaxed!
I think for the most part I do okay at a bench on flat work but anything else blows.

I’d like to be able to lay a good tig bead on tubing and out-of-position stuff like inside of a car or chassis but I just can’t figure it out. I get annoyed and bust out the hot glue gun and let it do its thing, lol.

Man it's been a rough weekend for me. First my welder shit the bed and now my Duluth firehose apron caught fire while angle grinding.

Starting smelling it through my respirator and looked down
