Carhart, washed duck fabric holds up better than the Duluth firehose, stuff to fire. Welding when it's hot out just plain sucks.

As a welder can they basically not use those giant fan cooler things because it would fuck with your work?
You can still use fans, but just not directly onto where ur welding, or set up a little shield

For stick welding it's ok, until it's blowing that hard it's moving the puddle to one side. For anything that uses shielding gas, well unless you like grinding or are real careful where the fan is blowing. Good luck. Sweat it out.

Only time I wear leather is in the winter, or I'm directly under where I'm welding and know I could get burnt bad. Otherwise, I just wear those light 10oz FR jackets and take the burn.

How are those HF machines for TIG welding aluminum?

Is the learning curve steep(er) from getting the feel for steel TIG vs AL? I'm not planning on anything critical - i'd like to stich up some interior panels on my buggy.

perfectly fine for basic home shit. low duty cycle is the major worry.

ehhhhh.

I know I'm not running a production shop but welding for 3 or so minutes and "resting" for 7 kinda sucks esp when you're on a roll.

I had an older millermatic 135 and I would either trip the machine or blow the breaker constantly. SHITS MAD GAY, SON.

u want a 300amp machine to tig ali, depending on what thickness material, otherwise duty cycle and low amps are gonna be a killer

The primeweld is a good option if your talking like 1/8 aluminum. It's got a decent duty cycle for a cheap machine.

Al is a bit harder to get the hang of than mild. Youre going to want to get a decent bit of similar thickness scrap to get the hang of pedal/speed to not blow through.

create the pool, watch it start to drop, dab filler, move forward. repeat. repeat. repeat.repeat. repeat. repeat. repeat. repeat. repeat.

Yeah at the most these panels will be no larger than 1/8". The Primeweld looks promising. There is a distributor local to me that sells open-box units for about 600. It's on the radar lol.

I need to make something like the middle part. It’s basically a spring steel “fork” that will hold those two halves of the bushing in place around a shifter rod.

I would assume using some sort of spring steel would be right. If I buy some how to I bend it into form without loosing the “spring” portion of the steel? It will be screwed to the body.

Picked up an Evolution chop saw yesterday. Should have bought one a long time ago.

Used mine to make about 40 cuts in 2x2-1/4" tubing yesterday. Took less than an hour.

Only negative is the clean up. I strip down before going inside. I've accidentally tracked in sharps and stepped on them later.

Been checking this out lately. Seems too good to be true, but you never know.

I usually hate multi process machines because its too much work switching and keeping track of all the various guns, fittings, etc. I'm still very intrigued by this guy though. 100% duty cycle claim too.
