im picturing a frame that bolts to the wall. the top glass rests on the frame bolted to the wall.

the C piece of stainless that wraps around everything has a side profile like:

__

|

__

very small folds to wrap over the glass top and support it. the bottom glass is supported by the bottom fold in the above channel.

Oh I’m sure it is hard. That’s why I want to get help. But I have a perfect spot on my wall for my own little Donald Judd replica so I want to figure out how to do it

Does it need to be stainless? I could build those easily in my shop with mild steel then you (or I) could send them off for powder. You can get pretty good looking powder coats that look similar to stainless, minus the brushed effect.

Ohh. I thought the top was stainless. Yeah, no welding necessary then.

I think oshcuts min depth for bending is something like .75" so the flanges would need to be that big. I could do smaller with my brake but my cnc plasma would require grinding on the cut edges which would ruin the natural finish.

Nah doesn’t have to be. I like the stainless look, though. Donald Judd made all types of these pieces, some of them concrete, some metal, some even wood I think.

I think this is the way. But you want the ‘frame’ to be integrated so that the mount to the wall is invisible. That’s why in my head I was thinking of sliding the C piece onto a little arm on each side

Probably gonna be more than you want to spend @Menger

With a two piece design (has to be to be bent), its gonna be just shy of 1k for 5 shelves.

This is an 20"x20"x6" box. Has to be at least 20" (or possibly more) to clear their brake on the last bend.

I could probably knock them out for $75 a box raw steel. Powder would likely be about $20 per. I could also make them smaller as my brake is a proper box brake and has a low top.

:hmm: let me think about it. Stainless would be cool. I have to think about how I’d attach something like that box to the wall in a seamless way.

I would put holes in the bracket that goes against the wall. You could use heavy duty drywall anchors, or I could space the holes 16" on center so you could hit two studs.

I was thinking about it more and a rectangle is better than square. Maybe like 32” by 18” with the 32” against the wall so you could center it on two studs?

Better make it longer than 32" if you want to hit 2 studs. 2 studs never work out when you want to hang something on the wall. They always seem to be in the wrong place.

Scored this “broken” drill press today. Dude said he would flip the switch and the motor would stall. Spindle spins free otherwise.

Some contact cleaner and solid smack with the hammer and it cleared that shit right up.

Where did you get that chassis? I built almost the exact same one at a shop on FL and it even had the Rubicon hood on it too. Never got to see the final product as I left the shop shortly after finishing the roller.

I wish camera phones were more available back then. I had a flip phone with a camera when I worked there and had tons of photos of the stuff I worked on, but they all got lost when the phone broke.
