Best trilogy in gaming (until Diablo 3 comes out).
no sidescrolling Metroid - no care.
The series died for me when it went FPS
That's a shame because Metroid Prime was the best game of gen-6.
I wanna know what that bonus content says...
The new Metroid game seems like its going to be awesome - looks like it has some old school elements to it.
I wasnt big into the Prime series either....I played a lot of the first one, but never beat it...and I got a good deal on 2 and 3 so I own those but havent played either haha. I loved 2d metroid
Super Metroid pisses all over the prime series.
I couldn't finish mp 1, got sick of backtracking and scanning EVERYTHING
and the 1st person view made me nausous
and this is from someone that fuckin loves metroid/super metroid
I loved the games, but I'm not rebuying them. even for wii controls.
you should've finished it. the ridley fight and finalboss fights were
For a nostalgia gamer, sure.
i just want the case
i have the whole trilogy right now...no point in rebuying it just for wii controls and some extra content
metroid: other M, on the other hand...i will be all over that shit on day one.
awesome for gamers that have never played it before. the 4 player split screen in echoes might actually be fun with the wii motes.
I wish I could erase my memory and experience these games fresh again.
snes metroid is awesome but you are still missing out on a masterpeice
As much as I love Super Metroid a run through only takes 2 hours where as each Metroid Prime game has ~10 hours of gameplay.
Saying the series is dead to you because it jumped to 3d is like hating on any Zelda game post LTTP.
If there was online play, maybe.
For real gamers, yeah.
Actual gaming died when Playstations became Blu-Ray players, X-Box's decided to feature Netflix and Twitter, and the WII became the latest valley girl trend.
Sure there's a good title every now and again, but if you really analyze the games these companies spit out now, they're just the same old bullshit with new skins.
While I don't necessarily disagree, this is an awfully cynical approach to gaming. I thought gen-6 (GC/PS2/Xbox) was fantastic. The current gen has been.. unusual, to say the least. Gaming is developing more nuanced, sort of niche audiences, and I don't think that's a bad thing. But really, I don't know how any real gamer can say that Metroid Prime was "the same old bullshit with a new skin".
I passed on it. I didn't want metroid prime for ds, I want metroid dread.
They marketed it as a multiplayer game which never really interested me.
I dunno'. It just seems like the first Metroid Prime was a new twist on the series that sold well... so Nintendo continued running with it instead of changing it up.
It boggles my mind that Nintendo has so many new possibilities and they aren't looking into them.
Could you imagine what a game like Poke'mon would be like in 3D using the Wiimote? And I'm not talking like the other 3D bs they've released... I'm talking just like the Gameboy / DS titles... Free-roaming RPG.
Instead of taking titles a step further, they just pump out the same stuff.
There were 8 years between Super Metroid and Metroid Prime. To be honest, I don't think Super Metroid and Metroid Prime could be anymore different. I agree that today, Nintendo doesn't branch out enough, at least on the Wii. (Can you blame them when games like Wii Fit sell 20 million copies?)
pretty weak overall and the controls honestly just dont work tight enough
It's out today. If you have any sort of love for gen-6 gaming and haven't played these, you'd be a fool not to jump on this.
The video game industry hit a new peak in 2007 so I don't see how you could say that it's "dead". 2007 was one of the best years in the past 2-3 generations and this year is shaping up to be pretty close.
Yes every developer has their own franchises that they churn out every year but on the flip side there are now more genres than ever before. The console industry has come a long way from its 2D sidescrolling roots and now offers a wider variety of games and features.
God please don't turn this thread into another bullshit argument about the most mundane thing ever. Gaming is NOT dead, anyone who thinks so must be delusional.
As for Prime Trilogy... will download
i might buy this. the last wii game i purchased with real money was madden 2007, and that was almost 3 years ago
